New recipe to share!!

Hope everyone is well.

I am doing okay, little set back with a bad foot but life goes on lol.

So I have a recipe to share with you today, a cool lip balm. I made a batch recently and shared it with some family and friends, they love it, yay!!

This batch makes about 10 tubes but you can use any sort of container you have, remember to always save used lip tubes, you can refill them. I got my tubes from Wholesale Supplies Plus.

So here is the recipe I used (variation from Wholesale Supplies Plus)

Wintergreen Lip balm

Don’t let the title scare you , if you don’t like wintergreen you can substitute any essential oil.

  • 1 Oz mango butter
  • 1.5 Tbsp beeswax
  • 1 Tbsp Candellila Wax
  • 1 Tbsp Castor Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Sweet Almond Oil (I get mine from Now Foods)
  • 2 ml Vitamin E
  • 6 ml Wintergreen Essential Oil (I get mine from Now Foods)

  1. Melt beeswax and candellila wax in glass bowl or measuring cup over a double boiler or you can use the microwave (carefully). I usually put my glass measuring cup in a small pot of boiling water.
  2. Heat until almost melter and remove from heat.
  3. Add mango butter. Return to microwave or water until melted completely.
  4. Remove from heat. Add castor oil, sweet almond, vitamin E and essential oils and stir. If it starts to thicken return to heat for a few mins til it turns back into a liquid.
  5. Carefully pour into lip balm tubes or container of choice and let cool. This is why I use a measuring cup, the spout is very handy when filling tubes. You can use a dropper if you want.
  6. Let cool completely. Put caps on use and share!!

If you try this let me know what you think!

Have a great weekend

Finished it!!

So last time I was telling you about the Minecraft creature I was making for my son, the Wither. Well I finally finished it lol. I will tell you that unless someone offers me alot of money I will not be making one again! He loves it and is super excited to have it so it was work it :)

Anyway here is a picture of the final product… a stuffed Wither

Crazy looking thing isn’t it?

Well that’s all I wanted to share right now. Currently working on a maxi skirt, I will let you know how that turns out :)

Hope everyone is good!

I am okay for the most part. Got some bad news from my spine surgeon recently but I will live :) Just have to find a different job that doesn’t require as much manual labor. Anyway enough about that…

I am still enjoying my semi-crunchy lifestyle and adding new things all the time.

I recently made some Shea Butter Body Creme. I will share that recipe with you in just a min :)

So I have always loved to sew but could never find the time for it or sometimes the desire. But lately I have found my groove again and it makes me happy.
How many of you know what Minecraft is and/or has a child that loves it? (raises hand) LOL

My son absolutely loves stuffed animals, he is 10 and still loves them. ( I did too, so he gets it honest) So anyway we have found some stuffed Minecraft characters in stores and boy they are expensive, but he uses his money :) One that we have not found is a three-headed skeleton, that is sort of like a boss, in the game called the Wither

Looks like this :D ( just so you know lol)

So anyway I decided to try and make a stuffed version for my son. Because I am the most awesome mom in the world and because I like to sew.

I did a search and found an awesome tutorial on Instructables by MasamuneX - Wither Plush from Minecraft Check it out if you want :)

The tutorial is great but I will tell you because of the design of this creature, it has so many pieces. I will not be making another one of these. I told my son he better keep it for the rest of his life lol.

I am almost done with it, everything is sewn together. Just need to start stuffing and putting pieces together.
So on to the Shea Butter Body Creme recipe I promised. I really like it and it keeps very well. This recipe filled 4 of the Ball 4oz. jars.

Recipe derived from Love + Cupcakes

1 cup Shea butter

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup almond oil

1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

Essential oil that you like or a combination of oils (30-40 drops) I used Lemon, Orange and Grapefruit (I am all about citrus)

1. Use a double boiler to melt Shea butter and coconut oil use medium-high heat.

2. Once they have both melted, let it come to room temperature then your other oils (almond, vit E and essentials). Put in the refrigerator for about an hour. You want it to be Opaque.

3. Once opaque you are ready to use your hand mixer and whisk it up. Whisk for about 5-7 mins on medium ( not high, might have body butter all over the kitchen lol)

4.Put your body butter in a jar or jars. I keep mine the jars I am not using in the fridge and one on the counter in my bathroom. It stays fairly firm but melts like butta when you use it :)

Hope you enjoy and let me know if you make some.

Have a wonderful Easter Holiday

So I made something new to try

So last post I said I was going to try something new. Blackhead cleansing powder that I saw on Humblebee&Me. So far it works pretty well, I think I will keep using it :)

I recently made some lip gloss and I love it, so proud of myself LOL. I will share it with you too! I use to use Neutrogena Moisture Shine in the color Glow until I lost BOTH my tubs one day. I had one I carried in my purse and another in my makeup bag at home. I have no idea how anyone could lose two tubes of gloss at the same time but I can apparently…. So anyway I decided to look for a recipe for a gloss I could make myself and it would be all natural too. I found a great gloss recipe at Humblebee&Me (shocking, I know! LOL) Snow White Lip Gloss. I made some of my own adjustments to the gloss and I am very happy with the results, it is almost exactly like the other that I use to buy.

I will say having a scale that measures very small amounts is wonderful to have if you plan on making any type of cosmetics. I recently bought one so I could start making my own cold-process soap (that soon to come).

So here is the recipe I used for my gloss.

Pale Shimmer Gloss – FYI: This is great for using over lip liners and darker lipstick shades to give your lips more Oomph!!

4g beeswax – preferably white, the yellow may adjust the color.
5g coconut oil
14g castor oil
10g jojoba oil
1g vitamin E oil

4g vegetable glycerin
1 pinch of  Red Sienna Sparkle
3 pinches of Pearl White Satin

8-10 drops peppermint essential oil – You don’t have to add, but I love the smell and to me it gives you a little love tingle when you put it on :)

  1. Measure out the beeswax, then oils and melt them in a glass bowl or measuring cup over boiling water. Remove and let cool a good bit.
  2. While you are melting your oils, measure your glycerin and pinches of color into a small bowl. Mix these together till smooth, you do not want any clumps.
  3. When your oils have cooled to room temperature, add color mix and whisk til emulsified. Should not take too long at all. Mix in your essential oil if you want.
  4. Pour into tubes or jars. I did not have any tubes so I used an old glass jar from when I had some Burt’s Bees moisturizer.
  5. Enjoy!!

Remember you can try any color you wish, just start small and work your way up!!

If you try this, I would love to hear from you and let me know what you think.

Long, long time ago…

I made a post on my blog :)
It has been forever since I have written anything.

So many crazy life things going on in my world. Not going to get into all of that!

So anyway one of my last posts was about me discovering and doing somethings in my life the more “natural” way. I am still doing that :) I have still been doing the no-poo method to wash my hair (thank you, crunchy betty).
I have found so many people that are doing this same thing, its great! Many, many blogs with suggestions, recipes and great ideas. I am having a blast.
I have started making my own face masks, toners, hair rinses, lotions, lipsticks, etc.. I love it.
I have even made lotion for my husband to use and he loves it, uses it everyday (never thought that would happen LOL)

I have a new venture now. I am gathering up supplies to start making my own cold process soaps :D Can’t wait to get everything together and get started.

I will share a hair rinse with you that I am just in love with, its is from

So the best thing to do along with the no-poo way of washing your hair is to use a Apple Cider Vinegar rinse. Makes all the difference in the world. Most people have a hard time with the smell, I did at first but once your hair dries its not a biggie. The smell though is not as terrible now that I have discovered this great new rinse I have started to use.

The Super Shiny ACV Hair Rinse - smells great and works wonderful. It has even extended the time between washing. Give it a try!

Tonight I am going to mix up some of this powder for my face. I will let you know how it goes.

Going more natural

Hey everyone

I hope that you are all doing well and have had a great week so far. I am doing well, still going to physical therapy for my neck and still going more natural :)

So previously I shared with you all the wonderful things I have been learning about using natural items to cleanse my face. I am still to this day using my honey wash/mask and oils to cleanse my face. Still no major breakouts no extra oil and no moisturizer. The only thing I have put on my face that wasn’t from mother nature is a little bit of make-up. Still very happy with these methods and want to give so much thanks to Leslie at Crunchy Betty for opening my eyes and making it so easy to start.

So now I have started another natural cleaning method for my hair. They are the no ‘poo and sorta ‘poo that Leslie talks about on her site. I started with the sorta ‘poo and used Dr. Bronners Peppermint Castile for a couple of weeks. I have started doing the no ‘poo this week. I will probably only use the castile again when I do an oil mask or get too much in my hair from my oil cleansed face wash, I can be dangerous sometimes lol. I am trying out a few different things to control frizz since I have this crazy curly hair and live in the middle of …The Land of Humidity!!, gotta love the south :)

So that is about all I have to share today.

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the day

Layout to share

So before I show you my new layout and the kit I used… I wanted to share about the Honey wash from my previous post.

I am still using the two different Honey Wash methods from Crunch Betty. I havent had any extra breakouts, felt dry or needed to use any moisturizer :D I am very happy with it so far. I did order more oils to start an oil cleaning method. Now I know that sounds funny, me with oily skin, cleaning it with oil but you have to read this post. So anyway, I bought some oils from GNC to mix and try based on the recommendations in Crunchy Bettys post. I will let you know how it goes and what I used soon.

Now for the Layout :D

The Kit is from Tami Miller Designs, it is called Sunny Afternoon. Great kit and colors.

Here is my layout. This is our cat Steve II.

well thats all for now..

I am still around

I havent posted in a looooong while. Life has been busy since the first of the year. Busy with work, family life and in April I had neck surgery. Im good now, doing physical therapy and stuff.

I want to check in and let you all know that I am still alive :)

Also I wanted to share with you a great site I found called Crunchy Betty. It is a site that I have been reading alot and trying some of the things that Leslie talks about. Have you ever wanted to try more natural cleansers, remedies for your face and home? Then you should check out Crunchy Betty.

I am one of those people with oily skin and have all those wonderful continuous break-outs (even at 37). After reading these two posts from Leslie I have decided to try a natural approach to my face :)

The first one I read was about Honey Face Wash and then because I wear make-up I learned even more by reading Removing Your Makeup Honey Face Wash.

So I started this the other night and so far I love it. My face feels great and don’t have to use moisturizer!! Like I saidI have oily skin so someone with dry might feel they need it. I will continue to use this for a while more and let you know how it goes. I am very excited and hope that I can get my skin on track.
